Arabic version: ليزي هو تشارك رحلتها الموسيقية ومغامراتها في منغوليا
Australian comedian Lizzy Hoo recently opened up about her adventurous life and musical influences on the Take 5 podcast. According to ABC News, Hoo attributes her love for exploration to her mother, who embarked on her own backpacking journey in the 1970s.
During her podcast appearance, Hoo was challenged to select five songs that reflect her life experiences, a task she found daunting due to the vast array of choices. She reminisced about her early music education, recalling her time at the Forte School of Music in Coorparoo, where she learned to play the electronic organ and developed a passion for music that has evolved over the years.
One of the most intriguing stories from her adventures came from her time in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Hoo, who previously worked as a bid and tender writer at an accounting firm, applied for a volunteer position as a journalist trainer in Mongolia, a decision that led to an unforgettable year filled with exploration. Despite challenges like cold winters and occasional lack of hot water, she embraced the experience, often engaging in weekend adventures like horse riding and discovering the local culture.
Hoo also shared her love for Mongolian music, particularly the indie rock band The Lemons, which she discovered during her time there. She highlighted their song “Monad” as a perfect representation of her experiences in Mongolia, capturing the vastness and beauty of the landscape. Her fondness for the band led her to choose their performance over a show by indie rock legend Peter Hook at a local music festival.
Lizzy Hoo continues to share her unique experiences and musical journey, with her new show, Says Hoo?, currently touring across Australia.
