Arabic version: تصاعد الصراع: إيران تواجه هجمات وضغوط دبلوماسية
On March 28, 2026, the ongoing US-Israel war on Iran entered its 29th day, marked by intensified military actions and diplomatic maneuvers. President Donald Trump expressed disappointment with NATO’s lack of support for the US and Israel, criticizing the alliance for not stepping in to secure the Strait of Hormuz despite significant US military contributions.
According to Al Jazeera, Israel’s military confirmed attacks on Iranian “regime targets” early Saturday, while Iranian officials warned of severe consequences following strikes on nuclear and industrial sites. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi vowed to hold Israel accountable for its actions, asserting that Tehran would exact a “heavy price for Israeli crimes” for these attacks.
In the Gulf region, Saudi Arabia reported intercepting a missile aimed at Riyadh, and the United Arab Emirates successfully shot down incoming threats from Iran. Meanwhile, reports indicated that more than 300 US soldiers have been wounded since the conflict began on February 28, 2026.
Diplomatic efforts are also underway, with US envoy Steve Witkoff anticipating discussions with Iran regarding a proposed peace plan. However, many Iranians feel coerced into negotiations that do not align with their interests, relying instead on military capabilities for leverage. The International Atomic Energy Agency has called for restraint as the situation continues to escalate.
