Arabic version: محطة الطاقة النووية الإيرانية تتعرض لهجوم آخر، الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية تصدر تحذيرًا
According to BBC News,
Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant has reportedly come under attack for the fourth time during the current war, according to Iranian officials. The latest incident resulted in the death of an employee at the plant, which is Iran’s only operational nuclear facility, completed with assistance from Russia. The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization has attributed the attack to the United States and Israel, although neither country has confirmed involvement.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN’s nuclear watchdog, has expressed “deep concern” over the attack. It stated that no increase in radiation levels was reported and emphasized that nuclear sites and their surrounding areas must never be attacked.
In a related context, U.S. President Donald Trump had previously announced a temporary pause on attacks targeting energy plants, allowing Iran a chance to negotiate. However, he has also issued threats of severe retaliation if Iran does not comply with demands, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The situation remains tense, with Iran continuing missile strikes against Gulf States, Iraq, and Israel, leading to collateral damage from intercepted missiles. The head of Russia’s state nuclear corporation, Rosatom, confirmed that evacuations of personnel from the Bushehr plant have started, as concerns over safety escalate amid the ongoing conflict.
Iranian officials have condemned the attacks on various institutions, including universities and petrochemical complexes, labeling them as violations of international norms. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that such actions could lead to catastrophic accidents, drawing parallels to the outrage over military actions near nuclear sites in Ukraine.
