Arabic version: شرطة نيويورك تعتقل محتجين يطالبون بإنهاء مبيعات الأسلحة
Police in New York have arrested around 100 anti-war protesters who were staging a sit-in outside the offices of Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, demanding an end to US weapons sales to Israel.
The demonstration comes as Senator Bernie Sanders pushes to block more than $600 million worth of bombs bound for Israel’s military. According to Al Jazeera, the sit-in reflects growing public dissent regarding U.S. military support for Israel.
The arrests highlight the ongoing debate over U.S. foreign policy and military aid. Activists are increasingly vocal about their opposition to the arms trade, particularly in the context of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
