YouTubers are under investigation by Victoria Police after filming inside the converted shipping container where fugitive gunman Dezi Freeman hid from police. According to ABC News, police are investigating a report of trespass related to the video footage published online.

Freeman was shot dead by police on March 30 after a stand-off at his hideout at Thologolong, located near the Murray River in Victoria’s north-east. He had been evading capture for seven months following the fatal shooting of two police officers at his property in Porepunkah last August.

The YouTubers claimed they accessed the property to retrieve a drone, and their videos reveal the squalid conditions inside the shipping container, which contained clothing, personal items, bedding, and various supplies. One YouTuber noted a strong chemical smell inside the container, indicating troubling conditions.

Victoria Police confirmed they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the trespass report made on April 16. A spokesperson stated that they are aware of the video and are looking into it.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan condemned the YouTubers’ actions, labeling the video as “disrespectful” to the families of the two fallen officers, Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart-Hottart. She expressed concern for the grieving families and highlighted the significance of the police work that led to Freeman’s demise.
