Arabic version: ترامب يدعي تمثيل المملكة المتحدة بشكل أكبر من الأمير هاري
According to BBC News,
US President Donald Trump stated that he speaks “for the UK more than Prince Harry” after the Duke of Sussex called for “American leadership” to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Prince Harry emphasized the importance of the United States upholding its international treaty obligations during a surprise visit to Ukraine.
Trump’s comments came after Harry’s unannounced trip to Ukraine, which followed his visit to Australia with his wife, Meghan. While Harry did not mention Trump directly, he highlighted the significance of American support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, referencing the assurances made when Ukraine relinquished its nuclear arsenal.
When asked about Harry’s statements, Trump expressed that it was “great advice” and inquired about the well-being of Harry and Meghan. He did not confirm whether he would invite Harry to dinner during the upcoming state visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Trump also shared his views on improving UK relations, stating that the royal visit could “absolutely” help mend ties that have been strained since the Iran war. He suggested that the UK should reconsider its energy policies and immigration strategies, indicating that he believes there are significant mistakes that need addressing.
The King and Queen are set to meet Trump at the White House during their four-day visit to the US, which begins on Monday. The visit is anticipated to draw attention given the ongoing discussions about the special relationship between the UK and the US, particularly in light of Trump’s previous criticisms of UK policies.
