Two young children have died in a house fire on Mason Street in Wolverhampton on Friday evening. According to BBC News, emergency services were alerted to the incident around 20:30 BST.
West Midlands Police, along with West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service, responded to the scene. Firefighters entered the property and rescued the two children, but they could not be saved and were pronounced dead at the scene shortly after their rescue.
Prior to the arrival of emergency services, two other children and a woman had exited the house and were assessed by ambulance personnel, who confirmed they did not require hospital treatment. The fire service indicated that immediate care was provided to the rescued children before their tragic passing.
The police have cordoned off the area as investigations into the cause of the fire are underway. The cordon is expected to remain in place for some time due to the extensive damage to the property. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police expressed condolences for the families affected by this heartbreaking incident.
