Queen Camilla is set to bring a special surprise to New York during her upcoming state visit to the United States. According to BBC News, she will replace a missing stuffed toy from the original Winnie-the-Pooh collection, known as Roo.

The original stuffed toys, including Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Kanga, and Tigger, are currently on display at the New York Public Library. These toys, which belonged to A.A. Milne’s son and inspired the beloved characters, have a rich history. However, Roo has been missing since the 1930s, a loss attributed to an incident in an apple orchard.

Queen Camilla’s gift, a specially-made Roo created by Merrythought—the same company that made the original toys—will complete the collection. The Queen’s visit to the library coincides with the centenary of the first Winnie-the-Pooh book’s publication, celebrating the enduring legacy of A.A. Milne’s stories.

The state visit, which includes King Charles addressing the U.S. Congress, aims to strengthen diplomatic ties between the U.S. and the U.K. The royal couple’s itinerary also features a visit to the 9/11 Memorial, where they will meet first responders and families affected by the attacks of 25 years ago. This blend of serious diplomacy and light-hearted cultural exchange highlights the multifaceted nature of the royal visit.
