Influencers can now pay $100 to film content in Tasmania’s national parks under a new permit system. This initiative aims to simplify the process for content creators, replacing an older system that required public liability insurance and a $450 fee.

The Enthusiast Business Licence, which came into effect in December 2026, allows solo influencers to profit from their work while reducing bureaucratic hurdles. According to ABC News, the previous requirements discouraged many potential creators from making content in the parks.

The new licence, valid for two years, enables influencers to engage in small-scale filming and photography, but it prohibits drone usage and mandates that they remain on established tracks. This regulation is part of a broader effort to protect Tasmania’s unique natural environment.

Tasmania’s Parks Minister Nick Duigan emphasized the importance of responsible content creation, stating that the licence includes obligations to minimize environmental impact. He noted that the government is working on further reforms to the National Parks and Reserves Management Act to streamline the permitting process even more.

Tourism researcher Anne Hardy highlighted that the new permit system could help manage over-tourism by providing valuable data about where influencers plan to film. She advocates for collaboration between the government and influencers to promote responsible tourism practices.
