The Arab League successfully concludes a specialized training course on “Artificial Intelligence in Management and Decision-Making” in collaboration with the Arab Academy.
On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the Arab League’s General Secretariat hosted the closing ceremony of the specialized training course titled “Artificial Intelligence in Management and Decision-Making: From Strategies to Effective Application in Arab Joint Action.” This course took place from April 27 to 29, 2026, organized by the General Secretariat (Department of Training and Development of Work Methods) in cooperation and coordination with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport. This initiative is part of the General Secretariat’s efforts to enhance digital transformation and develop institutional capacities within the framework of Arab joint action.
The course was organized under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, with support from His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Saleh Al-Ajiri, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector, and His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport.
This training course aligns with the strategic directions of the General Secretariat aimed at improving institutional performance and enhancing the readiness of its personnel to keep pace with rapid technological transformations.
During the closing session, His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Saleh Al-Ajiri emphasized that organizing this course reflects the General Secretariat’s commitment to investing in the development of human competencies, which are considered the cornerstone for enhancing the efficiency of Arab joint institutional work.
He explained that the Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector gives special importance to designing and implementing advanced training programs that keep up with global developments in technology and digital transformation. This enables the General Secretariat’s personnel to utilize artificial intelligence tools to support strategic analysis and decision-making processes.
Ambassador Al-Ajiri also expressed his sincere appreciation for the fruitful collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, thanking His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag for his continuous support of these quality training initiatives, which reflect the leading role of the Academy in education, training, and capacity building at the Arab level.
For his part, Professor Dr. Ali Fahmy, Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence at the Academy and the academic supervisor of the course, reviewed the key scientific and practical topics covered in the training program over the three days. He noted that the course focused on providing a comprehensive view of employing artificial intelligence techniques in modern management and supporting decision-making processes within governmental and regional institutions.
He pointed out that the scientific program included advanced topics, including analyzing the Arab landscape for crises and decision-making mechanisms in complex environments, applications of artificial intelligence in big data analysis and institutional documentation, and utilizing generative artificial intelligence tools to improve administrative performance. Discussions also addressed cybersecurity issues, digital sovereignty, and the requirements for building institutions capable of adopting artificial intelligence technologies in a secure and effective institutional framework, as well as governing artificial intelligence.
In this context, Dr. Mustafa Rashid, Assistant President of the Academy for Arab Affairs and the Academy’s point of contact with the Economic and Social Council, confirmed that this course represents a qualitative addition to the capacity-building programs within the Arab joint action system. It provided the General Secretariat’s personnel with the opportunity to learn about the latest international trends in the uses and applications of artificial intelligence in government management, policy-making, and strategic data analysis.
He added that the collaboration between the Arab League and the Academy serves as an advanced model for Arab partnerships aimed at transferring knowledge, developing Arab human competencies, and enhancing digital transformation in Arab institutions. This cooperation contributes to supporting institutional development paths and improving the efficiency of the Arab joint work system.
At the conclusion of the course, His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Saleh Al-Ajiri distributed certificates of appreciation to the supervising professors and experts from the Academy for their scientific contributions to the success of the training program. He also presented participation certificates to the directors of the departments, ministers, and advisors from the General Secretariat of the Arab League who participated in the course.
