Arabic version: المتطوعون يستعيدون الأمل في مستشفى الشفاء بزراعة أشجار الزيتون
Volunteers in Gaza have taken a significant step towards healing by planting olive trees at the al-Shifa Hospital, a site that has witnessed immense tragedy. The initiative took place in the hospital’s courtyard, where more than 500 bodies were recovered from mass graves, symbolizing a poignant reminder of the devastation experienced in the region.
The al-Shifa Hospital, once the largest medical complex in Gaza, has been severely impacted by repeated Israeli attacks and sieges during Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. This act of planting olive trees serves as a powerful symbol of hope and resilience in a place that has seen so much suffering.
According to Al Jazeera, the volunteers cleared rubble before planting the trees, demonstrating their commitment to restoring a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos.
This initiative reflects the broader efforts by the community to reclaim their space and promote healing following the devastating impacts of war. The olive tree, a symbol of peace and endurance, stands as a beacon of hope for the future of Gaza.
