Bankstown RSL welcomed members of the community, sporting personalities, and supporters of mental health awareness for the successful Gotcha4Life Mateship Luncheon held on Friday, 8 May at the club’s Level 1 function space.

The special fundraising luncheon was organised in support of Gotcha4Life, an organisation dedicated to building mental fitness and encouraging stronger social connections to help prevent suicide and mental health struggles across Australia.

Guests enjoyed a three-course meal while hearing from a distinguished panel from Channel 7’s NRL program The Agenda Setters. The panel featured rugby league personalities Luke Keary, Aaron Woods, and Dave Riccio, who shared stories, experiences, and insights about resilience, pressure, mateship, and the importance of open conversations surrounding mental health.

Adding to the occasion was special guest Royce Simmons, whose advocacy work in the mental health space has touched many Australians. Simmons spoke passionately about the importance of checking in on mates and fostering stronger community support networks.

Throughout the luncheon, the atmosphere reflected the event’s core message of connection and support, with attendees coming together to raise awareness and funds for a cause that continues to impact families and communities across the country.

Bankstown RSL’s support for initiatives such as the Gotcha4Life Mateship Luncheon highlights the club’s ongoing commitment to community wellbeing and meaningful social causes. The event not only raised important funds but also encouraged open dialogue around mental health and the importance of looking after one another.

The luncheon was well attended by community members, supporters, and rugby league fans, making it a memorable afternoon focused on awareness, unity, and positive change.
