Arabic version: ترامب يحث إيران على التحرك بسرعة مع تعثر محادثات السلام
According to BBC News,
US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that the “clock is ticking” as efforts to end the ongoing conflict have reached a standstill. Trump expressed his concerns via his Truth Social platform, urging Iran to “get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them.” The president emphasized that “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” during a period when he was scheduled to discuss the situation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Iranian media have reported that the United States has not made any significant concessions in response to Tehran’s latest proposals aimed at resolving the conflict. The semi-official Mehr news agency indicated that without a willingness to compromise from Washington, negotiations could reach a deadlock. Trump’s comments reflect his previous warnings that a “whole civilization” could face dire consequences if Iran does not agree to a peace deal.
Earlier this week, Trump described the current ceasefire as being on “massive life support” after rejecting Iran’s demands, which he labeled as “totally unacceptable.” In contrast, Esmail Baghaei, a spokesperson for the Iranian foreign ministry, defended their proposals as “responsible” and “generous,” which included calls for an immediate end to the war and the cessation of US naval blockades.
Reports suggest that Iran’s demands also included compensation for war damages and assurances regarding Iranian sovereignty over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. On the other hand, US conditions reportedly require Iran to limit its nuclear operations significantly. Trump’s recent comments indicate a potential shift in his stance, as he suggested he might accept a temporary suspension of Iran’s nuclear program.
The situation remains tense as US and Israeli forces have conducted extensive air strikes against Iran since 28 February. Although a ceasefire was established to facilitate talks, sporadic violence continues. Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil and gas shipments, while the US continues its blockade of Iranian ports, further complicating the negotiations. Pakistan has been acting as a mediator, but significant gaps remain between the two sides.
