A Cairns high school is one of several properties evacuated during police investigations of a threat, prompting police to make an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA). Emergency services were called to the scene after 9:25 AM, leading to the evacuation of students and individuals in nearby buildings.

According to ABC News, police have established an exclusion zone in the vicinity of the school, which includes areas bounded by Lake Street, Minnie Street, Grove Street, and McLeod Street. Residents in these areas have been advised to remain indoors as police conduct their investigation.

As of now, authorities have reported that nothing suspicious has been found on the premises. Parents and caregivers have been instructed not to come to the school to collect their children while the incident is ongoing. Students have been allowed back to some sections of the school as the situation develops.
