A man has been charged after allegedly stealing the camera equipment of one of the victims of the Bondi beach gun attack. The 35-year-old photographer is accused of taking the belongings of Peter Meagher, a retired police officer and photographer, who was killed during the attack at a Hanukkah event.

According to BBC News, the suspect was arrested on Wednesday following a police raid at his home in Sydney’s western suburbs. Authorities seized a camera, handcuffs, and electronic devices during the operation.

The Bondi shooting occurred on December 14, resulting in 15 fatalities. Meagher was among those targeted when two gunmen allegedly opened fire on the crowd. The accused was also present as a photographer at the event and has been granted strict conditional bail, with a court appearance scheduled for next month.

In a separate case, two brothers of Bondi hero Ahmed Al Ahmed have been charged over allegations they threatened Ahmed and tried to extort money from him. Ahmed, who was labelled a hero after he tackled one of the gunmen during the attack, reported his brothers to the police after they demanded a portion of the donations he received.

Court documents reveal that the brothers, Hozifa and Sameh al Ahmed, moved in with Ahmed after the shooting. They have pleaded not guilty to the charges and are set to return to court in July. Both have been issued interim apprehended domestic violence orders, requiring them to maintain distance from Ahmed.
