Bordeaux-Begles secured a commanding 41-19 victory over Leinster in the Investec Champions Cup final, held in Bilbao. The French side scored five first-half tries, showcasing their dominance early in the match. According to BBC News, Leinster initially took the lead with a try from Tommy O’Brien, but Bordeaux quickly turned the tide.
Captain Maxime Lucu and Paolo Uberti both scored for Bordeaux, while Louis Bielle-Biarrey added two tries, further extending their lead. Yoram Moefana intercepted a pass from Harry Byrne to score just before halftime, leaving Leinster trailing by 28 points at the break.
Leinster attempted to rally in the second half, with Joe McCarthy scoring after Lucu received a yellow card. However, Bordeaux maintained their control, with Lucu adding two penalties and Garry Ringrose scoring Leinster’s third try late in the match.
This victory marks Bordeaux’s second Champions Cup title and continues a streak of six consecutive wins for French teams in the competition. Leinster, on the other hand, faced their fifth final defeat since their last title in 2018, struggling against French opposition once again.
