NASCAR champion Kyle Busch has died at the age of 41 due to complications from severe pneumonia and sepsis, as confirmed by his family in a statement to The Athletic. The family revealed that the illness resulted in “rapid and overwhelming associated complications.”
Busch’s unexpected passing occurred on Thursday, and he was in the midst of his 22nd season in NASCAR’s top division. He had been expected to compete in the upcoming Coca-Cola 600 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
NASCAR honored Busch’s legacy, describing him as a “rare talent, one who comes along once in a generation.” He achieved significant success in his career, winning two Cup Series titles and 63 races. NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell stated that the races would continue as a tribute to Busch, emphasizing that he would have wanted them to proceed.
