Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts has announced the birth of her first child, a baby girl. In a heartfelt social media post, the 40-year-old singer revealed that her daughter arrived healthy and content a couple of weeks ago at 38 weeks.
According to BBC News, Roberts shared photos on her Instagram account showing her holding the baby, along with her partner, Mitch Hahn, carrying the baby in a car seat. Expressing her joy, Roberts stated, “It’s heaven on earth with her and we can hardly believe she’s ours.”
The announcement garnered congratulations from fellow celebrities, including singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor and TV presenters AJ Odudu and Katie Piper. Actress Michelle Keegan also extended her well wishes in the comments section of Roberts’ post.
In addition to her new role as a mother, Roberts is set to join her Girls Aloud bandmates for an arena tour across the UK and Ireland in 2024, marking their first tour in more than 11 years. The tour is dedicated to their late bandmate Sarah Harding, who died from cancer in 2021, aged 39.
Girls Aloud, formed in 2002 on the TV show Popstars: The Rivals, has released five studio albums and won a BRIT award in 2009. Roberts has also pursued a solo music career and performed in musicals, including a recent role in the West End production of Hadestown.
