United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that a potential agreement to resolve the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran may be reached in a matter of days. This announcement follows recent US military actions against Iranian missile sites and boats laying mines in southern Iran, occurring concurrently with diplomatic discussions in Qatar.

According to Al Jazeera, Rubio emphasized the ongoing negotiations, mentioning that talks are focused on specific language in the initial document. “There were some talks going on in Qatar today, so we’ll see if we can make progress,” he told reporters during his visit to India.

Rubio also highlighted the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, labeling current activities in the area as unlawful and unsustainable. Earlier, US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that US forces conducted self-defence strikes in southern Iran to protect American troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.

The attacks reportedly targeted missile launch sites and boats attempting to lay mines, intensifying the fragile ceasefire that has been in effect since early April. While Iranian officials have not officially responded to the US claims, there has been no denial of the incidents.

As negotiations continue in Doha, discussions are centered on critical issues such as the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s uranium enrichment. Iranian officials have indicated that nuclear matters would be addressed only after a framework accord is established. The ongoing conflict has already caused a significant impact on global energy prices, prompting urgent calls for a resolution.
