According to The Guardian, the match showcased City’s dominance, especially in the second half, following a competitive first half where Brighton initially appeared to be the stronger side. Bunny Shaw opened the scoring for City in the 38th minute, followed by a crucial goal from Alex Greenwood just before halftime, giving City a 2-0 lead.
The second half saw City extend their lead with goals from Aoba Fujino in the 66th minute and Vivianne Miedema in the 87th minute. Despite Brighton’s strong performance throughout the match, they were unable to convert their chances into goals.
The match concluded with an attendance of 43,917, marking one of the highest turnouts in the competition’s history.
