According to BBC News,
Paris experienced a mix of jubilation and unrest following Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Champions League victory. Fans gathered at the Champs de Mars to celebrate the win, as reported by the BBC’s Paris correspondent, James Waterhouse. However, the festive atmosphere was marred by clashes between football fans and police, leading to a significant police presence in the city.
On Saturday, thousands of police officers were deployed to manage the situation, which escalated into violence, resulting in 219 injuries. Among the injured, eight individuals were reported to be in serious condition, according to France’s Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez.
Authorities took decisive action, arresting 780 people in Paris after clashes. Despite the violent incidents, many fans continued to express their excitement and pride in PSG’s achievement.
