Donald Trump’s appointment of Bill Pulte as the acting director of national intelligence has sparked significant concern in Washington. His actions at the FHFA, including firing sizable chunks of the boards and removing ethics officials, have been controversial and raise questions about his suitability for overseeing the intelligence community.

Critics argue that Pulte’s appointment could compromise national security, especially at a time when the U.S. faces significant threats. Lawmakers emphasize the need for a director who is knowledgeable and respected, warning that Pulte’s approach may politicize intelligence gathering and analysis, ultimately putting Americans at greater risk.
