Arabic version: مخاوف تتصاعد مع تعيين ترامب بيل بولتي مديرًا للاستخبارات
Donald Trump’s appointment of Bill Pulte as the acting director of national intelligence has sparked significant concern in Washington. Pulte, a staunch Trump loyalist with little government experience and no prior national intelligence experience, is known for his aggressive political tactics and has previously led the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).
According to The Guardian, Pulte’s lack of government experience raises alarms among lawmakers. Senator Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the intelligence committee, criticized the decision, stating that it prioritizes loyalty over expertise in a critical national security role.
Pulte, whose nickname among some is ‘Little Trump,’ has a history of pursuing political retribution, having previously referred several political figures, including Lisa Cook, Letitia James, Eric Swalwell, and Adam Schiff, for mortgage fraud without substantial evidence. His actions at the FHFA, including firing sizable chunks of the boards and removing ethics officials, have been controversial and raise questions about his suitability for overseeing the intelligence community.
Critics argue that Pulte’s appointment could compromise national security, especially at a time when the U.S. faces significant threats. Lawmakers emphasize the need for a director who is knowledgeable and respected, warning that Pulte’s approach may politicize intelligence gathering and analysis, ultimately putting Americans at greater risk.
