A Royal Navy helicopter has crashed into a field in an incident police have described as “ongoing”. Devon and Cornwall Police said emergency services were at the scene in the Sourton Down area of Devon, near Okehampton.

The crash occurred close to the A30 and A386 roads. In response to the situation, police have implemented a road closure on the A386, affecting traffic between the A30 at Sourton Down and the A3079 Fowley Cross in Okehampton. The closure was established around 05:00 BST and is expected to last until at least 11:30.

Local staff at the nearby Sourton Cross Service Station reported that the services are currently inaccessible due to the ongoing investigation. Police have assured the public that further updates will be provided as they become available.
