Arabic version: توخيل يتمسك بأسلوب إنجلترا رغم حرارة كأس العالم
England’s head coach Thomas Tuchel has stated that he is “not ready to adapt” the team’s playing style for the upcoming World Cup, despite the high temperatures expected in the USA. He emphasized that adapting to the heat would compromise the team’s strengths. Since taking the helm in January 2025, Tuchel has focused on a physical approach, mirroring the characteristics of English domestic football.
According to BBC News, Tuchel believes his squad is young, courageous, and ready to embrace their aggressive style of play. He expressed confidence that the air-conditioned indoor venues, like the one in Dallas where they will face Croatia, will mitigate some of the heat’s impact during their opening match.
Tuchel acknowledged that hydration breaks, which will be implemented in all matches, can “change the character of each half” but also provide opportunities for coaches to communicate strategies. He noted that while the heat has affected training conditions in Kansas City, he remains committed to maintaining England’s established style.
In preparation for the tournament, Tuchel has called up Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah to replace the injured Tino Livramento, who had to pull out of the squad with a calf issue. Chalobah’s inclusion aims to ensure depth in the defensive lineup. As England approaches their first match, captain Harry Kane is poised to earn his 115th cap, joining David Beckham on the all-time appearances list for the national team.
