On Sunday morning, June 21, His Grace Bishop Serapion, the Metropolitan of Los Angeles, Southern California, and Hawaii, presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Basil’s Church in San Diego, California. The event was attended by the esteemed bishops, His Grace Bishop Abraham and His Grace Bishop Kyrillos, along with several priests from the Los Angeles area.

Following the prayer of reconciliation, the bishops conducted the ordination ceremony of Deacon Anthony Zaki, who was elevated to the priesthood to serve the same church under the name “Father Anthony.” This moment brought great joy to both the priests and the congregation.

After the ordination, the newly appointed priest traveled to the Monastery of St. Paul the Great in Merita, California, to spend a period of forty days in reflection and spiritual preparation. It is noteworthy that the bishops had elevated Deacon Anthony to the diaconate rank during the Divine Liturgy on Saturday morning.
