Prince Harry is reconsidering a planned family visit to the UK next month due to the rejection of his request for police protection. According to BBC News, the Duke of Sussex, along with his wife Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, were due to make a family visit to the UK for the first time in four years.

The request for police security was formally submitted by his team, but they were informed on Friday that taxpayer-funded protection would not be provided. Sources indicate that Prince Harry is distraught about this decision, which comes just days before their expected arrival. Despite this setback, he remains hopeful about finding a solution to proceed with the trip.

The family’s visit was scheduled to last around five days, coinciding with public engagements in London and the Midlands. Meghan was planning to join Harry for various events, including activities related to the Invictus Games, which he founded and are set to take place in Birmingham next July.

While they have accepted an invitation to stay at a royal estate as guests of King Charles, the specific location has not been disclosed. Outside their stay at the estate, Prince Harry will need to rely on a private security team from California, as police protection will only be available during their time on the royal property.

The last time King Charles saw his grandchildren was during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022, and Prince Harry’s last face-to-face encounter with his father was in September 2024. A final decision regarding the family’s trip and participation is expected in the coming days.
