Cameron Ross, a former police officer, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping two women and abusing a third. The offenses occurred in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis between 2012 and 2014, with additional abuse reported in Inverness from 2019 to 2022.

According to BBC News, Judge Alison Stirling deemed that custody was the only appropriate response given the serious nature of Ross’s actions. He was suspended from Police Scotland in January 2024 after the allegations surfaced and resigned in June 2024.

During the trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, it was revealed that Ross raped one woman after meeting her at a party in 2012, while another woman testified that he restrained and raped her in June 2014. Additionally, he subjected a third woman to a prolonged period of abuse, which included threats to kill and physical violence between October 2019 and June 2022.

Ross was also found guilty of behaving in a threatening manner and attempting to interfere with a witness in June 2022. He has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, with prosecutors emphasizing the importance of holding offenders accountable, regardless of their position.
