World Lebanese Cultural Union Honours Dr Imad Berro OAM in Sydney

The World Lebanese Cultural Union – Oceania Council has celebrated the outstanding achievements of its Secretary-General, Dr Imad Berro OAM, at a special dinner recognising his recent appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia.

The event was attended by the World President of the World Lebanese Cultural Union, Dr Abraham Constantin, alongside the Oceania Continental President, Engineer Badwi Elhage, who joined members of the organisation, community leaders and supporters to acknowledge Dr Berro’s long-standing service to the Australian Lebanese community.

Among those present were Oceania Council Vice President Remy Wehbe, Treasurer Mahmoud Shmeit, President of the North East New South Wales Branch Hassan Al Rahman, President of the South West New South Wales Branch Hassan Karneib, as well as representatives and members from state councils and local branches.

The evening reflected the high regard in which Dr Berro is held across the organisation and the broader Lebanese and Arab Australian community. His recognition through the Order of Australia honours years of commitment to community service, cultural preservation and social engagement, particularly in supporting the Lebanese community’s role and identity in Australia.

In their addresses, both Engineer Elhage and Dr Constantin spoke warmly about Dr Berro’s character, dedication and contribution. They highlighted his consistent efforts to support others, strengthen community institutions and represent the values of service, integrity and cultural pride.

Dr Berro thanked those who attended the celebration and expressed his appreciation for the support he has received throughout his journey. He also acknowledged the efforts of every member of the World Lebanese Cultural Union, stressing that the organisation’s cultural and social work has played an important role in his own path of service.

Reaffirming his commitment to the institution, Dr Berro said he would continue working to strengthen its presence, uphold its mission and ensure it remains a source of pride for Lebanese communities across Australia and beyond.
