A Ukrainian woman has been identified as the main suspect for a parcel bombing in Monaco that seriously wounded a sanctioned Ukrainian multi-millionaire and two others. According to BBC News, the suspect, 39-year-old Anastasiia Berezovska, is wanted for attempted murder and other serious charges.

An Interpol Red Notice has been issued for Berezovska, who speaks German and is wanted for placing an explosive device on a public road with criminal intent. The bombing occurred when an individual left a package at the entrance of a small apartment building, resulting in an explosion as three residents entered the building. The suspect was seen fleeing the scene towards the French commune of Beausoleil.

Monaco’s prosecutor thanked the police forces from Monaco and France for their cooperation, which made it possible “to identify, in a particularly short time, the person suspected of having carried out the attack.” Prince Albert II of Monaco condemned the incident as a “heinous crime.”

The victims included a couple and their 13-year-old child, who were all hospitalized following the explosion. The adults were seriously wounded and taken to Nice University Hospital, while the child, who suffered minor injuries, was admitted in a non-critical condition to the Lenval children’s hospital in Nice. Reports indicate that the attack targeted Vadym Yermolaiev, a wealthy real estate developer with ties to Crimea.

Yermolaiev, 58, is a Cypriot citizen who has been under sanctions from the Ukrainian government since 2023 due to his business interests. He was named the 39th richest Ukrainian by Forbes magazine in 2020, with a fortune of $230 million. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to identify any possible accomplices involved in the bombing.
