Arabic version: بطاقة صفراء لأوليزي من فرنسا تبقى قائمة؛ المغرب يخسر صباري بسبب الإصابة
France have failed in their bid to have Michael Olise’s yellow card from their win against Paraguay overturned, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the French team. Olise received the yellow card after a stoppage-time clash with Matias Galarza. This ruling means Olise will be at risk of missing the semi-final against either Spain or Belgium if he receives another yellow card in the upcoming quarter-final against Morocco.
According to BBC News, France manager Didier Deschamps confirmed that the yellow card has not changed, despite FIFA’s decision to suspend a red card for U.S. striker Folarin Balogun, which allowed him to play against Belgium.
In the same match, French players Bradley Barcola and Manu Kone were also booked, while Paraguay did not receive any yellow cards. The match was marked by several contentious moments, including an incident where Paraguay’s Gustavo Velazquez attempted to scuff the penalty spot prior to Kylian Mbappe’s successful penalty kick.
In related news, Morocco will face a significant challenge as key player Ismael Saibari has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury. Saibari, who has been instrumental for Morocco in the tournament, was injured just 22 minutes into their last-16 match against Canada. Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi expressed hope that this injury would not end Saibari’s participation in the tournament.
