According to ABC News, the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will award 215 gold medals across 10 full days of competition, with the daily program listed in Australian Eastern Standard Time. Organisers say schedule details are subject to change depending on a number of criteria.
Competition begins with bowls and para bowls from 6:30pm to 1:25am on July 23-24 after an extra session was added because of what organisers described as “unprecedented demand”. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 5am on July 24 at The Hydro at the Scottish Event Campus. KT Tunstall will headline, joined by Tom Walker, Nina Nesbitt, Valtos, Callum Beattie, Nathan Evans and Saint Phnx, while more than 600 volunteers will perform.
The first full competition day includes 3×3 basketball, wheelchair basketball, artistic gymnastics, bowls, boxing, para powerlifting and swimming. Para powerlifting medals are scheduled in both lightweight and heavyweight divisions. Swimming finals begin from 4am, including the women’s 400m freestyle and the women’s and men’s 4x100m freestyle relays. Lani Pallister is listed as a major favourite in the 400m freestyle, while Mia Hogan is set to swim the S13 100m freestyle.
Australia’s netball team, the Diamonds, open their gold-medal defence against Tonga on Day 2, before facing England on Day 3 and Malawi on Day 5. Day 2 also features the women’s artistic gymnastics team final, with Georgia Godwin, Emily Whitehead, Kate McDonald, Breanna Scott and Ruby Pass named in the Australian squad.
Athletics starts on Day 4, alongside swimming, with men’s and women’s 100m heats on the program. The women’s T37/38 100m final, men’s 110m hurdles final and women’s 10,000m final are also scheduled. Day 5 includes the men’s and women’s 100m semifinals and finals, the women’s high jump final, and swimming events featuring Kyle Chalmers, Pallister, Mollie O’Callaghan and Zac Stubblety-Cook.
