According to ABC News, Australia’s cyclists collected gold, silver and bronze in the men’s 4,000m individual pursuit on day eight of the Commonwealth Games, while athletes prepared for a major night at Scotstoun Stadium.

Oliver Bleddyn won gold and set a Commonwealth Games record in the men’s individual pursuit final, with Conor Leahy taking silver. James Moriarty secured bronze after beating the Isle of Man’s Matthew Bostock, completing an Australian sweep of the medals.

Georgia Baker added another cycling gold in the women’s 10km scratch race. Baker was supported by Australian teammates Alyssa Polites and Sophie Edwards after the trio made an early move with five laps remaining. Baker held off Wales’ Anna Morris and New Zealand’s Samantha Donnelly in the final dash.

In the men’s C1-C3 1,000m time trial, Gordon Allan won silver after New Zealand’s Devon Briggs edged him for gold. Australia also put three riders into the men’s keirin final: Tayte Ryan won his heat, while Leigh Hoffman won the second heat ahead of Daniel James Barber.

On the athletics track, Lachie Kennedy and Torrie Lewis were set for their respective 200m finals. Olympic champion Nina Kennedy was favoured to defend her women’s pole vault title after setting Australia’s national record of 4.95m at the Monaco Diamond League meet last month. Tim Fraser, Declan Tingay and Isaac Beacroft were competing in the men’s 10,000m walk.
