According to ABC News, four people were rescued in three separate incidents in Tasmania on Saturday, including two people whose four-wheel drive became stuck on a remote West Coast track and two bushwalkers who required assistance.

A man and a woman from southern Tasmania were helped to safety after becoming disoriented while driving for several hours on tracks south of Queenstown. Their vehicle became stuck on a difficult section they could not pass. Police said one of the two had a physical disability and could not walk without assistance. Officers from Queenstown and Rosebery left about 5:30pm and found the pair about 7:45pm. Neither was injured, and the vehicle was recovered and driven back to Queenstown.

In the Meander Falls area, a 44-year-old man from northern Tasmania was lost for about five hours after becoming separated from his walking companion and veering off the track leading back to the car park. Tasmania Police Search and Rescue officers, assisted by State Emergency Service personnel and drone technology, located him about midnight. He was walked out with no significant injuries. A rescue helicopter was sent to the area but could not fly because of weather conditions.

Earlier, a Queensland woman in her mid-50s was winched to safety after getting into difficulty during a solo bushwalk on Mount Killiecrankie on Flinders Island. She contacted police on her mobile phone late in the afternoon, saying she could not walk out. The helicopter crew found her about 7pm, and police said she had no significant injuries. Tasmania Police reminded bushwalkers and motorists to prepare for travel in the Tasmanian bush and carry appropriate safety equipment.
