According to Cnbc, Advanced Micro Devices reported second-quarter results that exceeded LSEG consensus estimates, while its shares slumped in extended trading after rising during regular trading hours. For the quarter ended June 27, AMD posted adjusted earnings per share of $1.66, above the expected $1.62, and revenue of $11.54 billion, above expectations of $11.28 billion.

Revenue rose 50% from $7.69 billion a year earlier. AMD’s Data Center segment led the growth, with sales of $6.7 billion, up 107% year over year, driven by central processing unit and graphics processing unit sales. The company makes data center CPUs and GPUs, with both types of AI chips contributing to growth.

AMD forecast current-quarter revenue of about $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million, compared with LSEG expectations of $12.52 billion. Some analysts had sought guidance as high as $14 billion. CFO Jean Hu said the company expects Data Center sales to accelerate in the second half of 2026, supporting stronger overall revenue growth and continued earnings expansion.

The company said it will begin shipping its Helios rack AI system this quarter to Meta, OpenAI and Oracle, with shipments expected to ramp in the fourth quarter. Helios combines AMD CPUs, GPUs and networking chips and marks the company’s first rack-scale system.

CEO Lisa Su said on an earnings call that AMD expects data center sales to double in 2027 and server revenue to rise more than 80% year over year in the second half of fiscal 2026. Client and gaming revenue increased 6% to $3.8 billion, while embedded revenue rose 19% to $977 million. Net income reached $2.3 billion, or $1.38 per diluted share, compared with $872 million, or 54 cents per diluted share, a year earlier.
