According to ABC News, three teenage boys charged with murdering Aidan Becker at Mernda train station have pleaded not guilty. The boys, aged 16 and 17, appeared in the Children’s Court on Wednesday, where their cases were transferred to the Supreme Court.

Police allege Becker, 22, was attacked and killed on March 6 after rescuing a 14-year-old boy from a machete attack at the suburban Melbourne station. Becker, who worked as a hospital security guard, was travelling home from work when the incident occurred, police allege.

Police allege Becker helped the younger boy and walked him out of the station before he was set upon by a man and three boys. Mike Pikos, 18, and the three teenagers were charged with murder. Pikos has not yet entered a plea and is due to face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a committal mention on August 19.

A directions hearing for the three boys is scheduled for August 26, followed by further administrative hearings before any potential trial. After Becker’s death, mourners held a candlelight vigil at Mernda train station, where his family later unveiled a plaque in his honour. Yarrambat Football Club, where Becker was a former player, also paid tribute to him.
