According to BBC News, Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors will meet in Dublin in 2027 in the first Super League fixture to be played in Ireland. The match is scheduled for Saturday, 24 April 2027.
The teams will play at the newly refurbished Laya Arena, the home of rugby union side Leinster. The venue has a 20,000 capacity and underwent a €52 million transformation before its reopening in August, ahead of the 2026 Dublin Horse Show.
Warrington chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick called the fixture “another landmark moment” for the club, Super League and rugby league. He said Dublin was the “perfect next destination” following projects in Las Vegas and Paris, citing the city’s record of hosting major international events.
The game will be the second meeting between Warrington and Wigan in Dublin. They previously played at Shelbourne Park in 1934, while Wigan also faced Leeds in a Charity Shield fixture in Dublin in 1995. Warrington and Wigan met in the inaugural Rugby League Las Vegas event in 2025, and Wigan played Catalans in Paris earlier this year.
Wigan Warriors chief executive officer Kris Radlinski said the occasion could become “another successful chapter in rugby league’s growth story”. He said Dublin offered a stage for the clubs and their supporters, including people discovering rugby league for the first time. The fixture is set for the week before next season’s Magic Weekend, which begins on Saturday, 1 May.
