According to ABC News, Australian fighter Quillan Salkilld won his first UFC main event by submitting Mateusz Gamrot with a rear-naked choke in Las Vegas.

Salkilld secured the finish at 4:25 of the opening round of their non-title lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night at the UFC APEX. In his main-event debut, he survived a Gamrot leg-lock during an extended grappling exchange before taking his opponent’s back and applying the choke.

The result extended Salkilld’s winning streak to 13 fights. His record moved to 13-1, while Gamrot’s stood at 26-5. Salkilld has won his past four bouts, and five of his past six, in the first round.

After defeating the number eight-ranked Gamrot, the number 12-ranked Salkilld called for stronger opposition in the lightweight division. “I think I deserve someone who’s in the top five or close to it,” Salkilld said.

In the co-main event, Diego Ferreira earned a unanimous decision over Billy Quarantillo, with all three judges scoring the lightweight fight 30-27. Yadier del Valle stopped Darren Elkins 35 seconds into the first round of Elkins’s UFC retirement bout.
