According to BBC News, Middlesex have secured a One-Day Cup knockout-stage place after beating eliminated Derbyshire, while Group A remains tightly contested before its final fixtures.
At Derby, Ben Geddes made 109 and Max Holden scored 65 in a 156-run third-wicket partnership as Middlesex set Derbyshire 328 to win. Zafar Gohar took 3-35 as Derbyshire were dismissed for 240, despite Caleb Jewell’s 54. Middlesex remain top of Group B and host bottom side Sussex in their final group match.
In Group A, leaders Leicestershire lost by six wickets at Kent after Daniel Bell-Drummond struck an unbeaten 133. Hamza Shaikh made 93 and Ben Green 57 not out in Leicestershire’s 261-7, but Kent reached 262 with 15 balls remaining. Leicestershire finish on 16 points alongside Nottinghamshire, Lancashire and Surrey, with their progression now dependent on other results.
Nottinghamshire lost to Gloucestershire, Lancashire were beaten by Warwickshire and Northamptonshire stayed in contention by defeating Somerset. Warwickshire chased 312 against Lancashire, powered by Vansh Jani’s career-best 88, while Gloucestershire’s James Bracey scored 103 in a four-wicket win over Nottinghamshire.
Durham strengthened their Group B position with a 20-run rain-affected win over Essex, for whom the competition is now over. Hampshire beat Sussex by 51 runs after Ben Mayes made 109, Ali Orr scored 105 and Toby Albert hit 86 from 37 balls. Worcestershire, beaten by Glamorgan off the final ball, must defeat Durham and substantially improve their run rate to advance.
