According to BBC News, Scotland beat the United Arab Emirates by one wicket in Dundee after Jasper Davidson struck the winning boundary from the penultimate ball of their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Series match.

Chasing 231 at Forthill, Scotland reached 235-9 in 39.5 overs. Davidson first ran two to level the scores off the previous delivery before finding the boundary that decided the contest with one ball remaining.

The UAE had made 231-8 from 40 overs after being put in to bat. Wicketkeeper-opener Adeeb Usmani led their innings with 116 from 126 balls, including three sixes and 11 fours. Brandon McMullen was Scotland’s leading bowler with 3-30.

Scotland slipped to 2-2 when George Munsey and McMullen were both dismissed without scoring. Finlay McCreath made 28 and Richie Berrington added 39 to help recover the innings, before Michael Jones scored 44 and Matthew Cross made 66 in a fifth-wicket stand of 72.

The result followed Scotland’s nine-run win over Canada at the same venue two days earlier, a victory that sealed their place at next year’s World Cup Qualifier.
