According to BBC News, British rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly will face a retrial on three rape charges in Australia after a jury could not reach decisions on those counts. The jury cleared him of several other sexual assault offences following a trial in Western Australia.

Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, had denied all 10 charges. Last month, the jury found him not guilty of three counts of rape, as well as one assault charge and one strangulation charge. He was found guilty of two assault charges, but will not be sentenced for them until after the retrial.

The charges followed an allegation that Barrientos repeatedly raped and assaulted a fan after performing at a nightclub in Perth in 2024. The court heard that Barrientos, who was on tour in Australia, had consensual sex with the woman, then aged 20, in his hotel room after performing in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth. She alleged that he then became violent and ignored her requests to stop.

Barrientos is due to appear in court on 27 August for an application to vary his bail. No retrial date has been set, and the prosecution has said the complainant is willing to give evidence again. During the trial, Barrientos said he had “fancied” the woman when they met at the concert venue and that the “vibes were good” when they later arrived at his hotel.

Born in Colombia and brought up in the UK, Barrientos is known for his work with the YouTube collective Beta Squad. He has also appeared in the celebrity version of Bake Off on Channel 4 and presented BBC Three shows.
