According to ABC News, Brisbane mounted a second-half comeback to beat Canberra 34-30, while the Dolphins defeated Parramatta 34-16 to strengthen their position in the NRL’s top four.

The Raiders led the Broncos 30-16 with 18 minutes remaining at Canberra Stadium, where Josh Papali’i was playing his final hometown game before retirement. Canberra appeared set for a celebratory win and retained faint finals hopes, but Brisbane scored 18 unanswered points to claim the victory. The result ended the Raiders’ finals hopes.

The Broncos’ fightback recalled their comeback victory at the same ground in last year’s finals series, although this match carried lower stakes. Brisbane’s win came after the side had looked beaten late in the contest.

At Lang Park, the Dolphins recovered after falling behind 10-0 in the opening 20 minutes. They led 16-10 at half-time and pulled away in the second half, with Herbie Farnworth scoring an 80-metre try in the final minute after Apa Twidle’s tap-on fell to him.

The Dolphins have now won five straight matches and sit four points clear of Cronulla in fourth spot. They face the Roosters next week.
