According to ABC News, a 75-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Bacchus Marsh, west of Melbourne.

Bacchus Marsh man George Paraskevas, accused of killing a 41-year-old woman, briefly appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday night.

The woman’s body was found inside a property on Connor Street at about 3:30am on August 26. The man was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital under police guard.

Homicide Squad detectives charged him with murder on Monday. He appeared from custody by video link and did not apply for bail.

The matter was adjourned for a committal mention on November 23. Police will allege that the parties knew each other.
