According to ABC News, Victoria Police’s anti-corruption Taskforce Hawk has arrested and charged two men in an ongoing investigation into alleged secret commissions, drug trafficking and fraud.
Tyrone Bell, 37, was arrested at a Wandin East home by Taskforce Hawk detectives and members of the anti-organised crime VIPER Taskforce. Police allege the former national vice-president of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle club and former CFMEU delegate defrauded more than $424,000 through secret commissions in the building industry.
Bell was charged with obtaining financial advantage by deception, making a false document and using a false document. Police also said he was subject to a Firearm Prohibition Order and allegedly did not notify authorities of a change of address within 24 hours. He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 3.
A 38-year-old Preston man was charged with making a false document and bailed to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on December 4. Victoria Police defines a secret commission as corruptly giving, receiving or soliciting an undisclosed financial benefit, reward, payment or kickback.
The arrests follow raids last week at six Melbourne properties, including the Victorian branch headquarters of the CFMEU, where five men were arrested. Taskforce Hawk was established in June 2024 to investigate alleged criminal behaviour in the construction sector, including the infiltration of major Victorian government infrastructure projects by outlaw motorcycle gangs.
