According to BBC News, Mark Selby, Judd Trump, Mark Williams, Wu Yize and Barry Hawkins progressed from the first round of the English Open in Brentwood on Tuesday.

World number two Selby beat fellow Englishman Ricky Walden 4-3. Selby led 2-1 after breaks of 111 and 135 in the second and third frames, but fell 3-2 behind before sealing victory with a break of 69 in the final frame.

Trump defeated Northern Ireland’s Jordan Brown 4-0, while Wales’ Williams overcame Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon. Wu and Hawkins completed a clean sweep for top-10-ranked players, beating Chinese players Yang Gao 4-1 and Lyu Haotin 4-2 respectively.

In the second round, Selby will play China’s Zhang Anda and Trump will face Ashley Carty. Williams meets Matthew Selt, Wu plays compatriot Xu Si, and Hawkins will face either Gary Wilson or Daniel Wells.

Shaun Murphy later beat Artemijs Zizins 4-2 to arrange a second-round match with Jamie Clarke, who defeated David Gilbert 4-3.
