Emergency services were called to Harrow Road, Auburn, at 11:20am on August 31 after reports that a baby’s body had been discovered in a garbage bin at a unit block.
NSW Police said the woman was located and taken to hospital for assessment. She was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station after being released from hospital.
Police have granted her conditional bail. She is due to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
At the time of the discovery, Acting Superintendent Darren Sly said the unclothed newborn boy’s body was in a plastic bag and may have been there for up to 36 hours. He said it was not known whether the infant had been born alive.
