According to Al Jazeera, Iran has sent Washington formal conditions through Qatari mediators for ending its war with the United States. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Tehran was awaiting President Donald Trump’s response.

Rezaei said Iran’s conditions were an end to the war on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian funds and an end to the naval blockade. He said Qatar had conveyed the terms to Washington and argued that accepting them was in the US interest. Qatar and Pakistan have been seeking to restore negotiations since a memorandum of understanding between the sides expired last month.

He said Iran considered another US strike “very much on the cards” based on its military assessments, while maintaining that Tehran was prepared. Rezaei said Iranian military planning was focused on US naval assets from the Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. He also said Iran had recently test-fired a multi-warhead antiship missile near a US vessel or aircraft carrier.

Rezaei described the war as continuing in practical terms but said Tehran’s new strategy was intended to end it as soon as possible. He rejected US allegations that Iran violated the expired memorandum by striking an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, saying Iranian action followed US strikes on Bandar Abbas and an Iranian surveillance platform.

On nuclear policy, Rezaei said Iran had not decided to leave the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and remained committed to a fatwa prohibiting nuclear weapons, although he said further pressure could affect Tehran’s future decisions. He also denied Iranian involvement in Yemen’s war and said a possible Iran-Oman agreement concerning the Strait of Hormuz remained ready but could require regional endorsement.
