According to ABC News, Tasmania Fire Service issued bushfire alerts for several areas as wind gusts made conditions difficult for crews on Sunday. As of 4pm, seven warnings were active, and people in affected areas were urged to stay updated with the latest advice from authorities.

The notifications in place included Yarlington Road and Mud Walls Road at Colebrook, Seven Mile Beach, Lewisham, Dodges Ferry and Carlton, Oatlands, and Dodges Ferry, Carlton and Seven Mile Beach. The fire service had warned earlier in the week of elevated fire danger linked to high temperatures, dry air and windy conditions.

Regional Fire Controller Scott Vinen said 15 crews and four aircraft were working to contain a fire at Springhill Bottom Road, Colebrook, after crews were called at about 11am. A Watch and Act warning was in place, with the community advised to monitor changing conditions. Crews, including Parks and Wildlife Service personnel, were also working on a fire at Pittwater Road, Seven Mile Beach, reported at about 11.30am. People were advised to avoid that area.

The Bureau of Meteorology recorded gusts exceeding 100 kilometres per hour at several locations, including 137 km/h at Scotts Peak Dam, 128 km/h at Kunanyi (Mt Wellington), 117 km/h on Bruny Island and 102 km/h at Hobart City. TasNetworks reported thousands of people without power. A Severe Weather Warning forecast damaging winds through Sunday, clearing by Monday morning, while Tasmania SES urged residents to prepare for possible outages, secure loose outdoor items and stay indoors where possible.
