According to ABC News, Quinceanera, the $10 million daughter of champion racemare Winx, has begun her breeding career after visiting Super Seth at Coolmore Stud in the NSW Hunter Valley. The four-year-old mare was covered last week and has not yet had a pregnancy confirmed.
Quinceanera was Winx’s first live foal and became the most expensive filly ever traded when she sold for $10 million in 2024. Bought back by Winx part-owner Debbie Kepitis, the 2022-born mare was retired from racing earlier this year without competing on a racetrack.
Kepitis said Super Seth was selected after the owners considered Quinceanera’s breeding. The New Zealand stallion has produced four individual Group 1 winners from his first two crops of foals, while his yearlings this year sold for up to $950,000. His service fee for the 2026 season is $137,500. If Quinceanera gets in foal, her first foal would be due next spring.
The development follows the birth of Winx’s third live foal, a filly by Darley shuttle stallion Too Darn Hot, on Tuesday night. Winx, whose racing career included a 33-race winning streak, 25 Group 1 wins and four Cox Plates, also has a 2024 colt by Snitzel. That colt was withdrawn from auction earlier this year after a paddock accident. Kepitis said Winx would likely not be covered this season, although no final decision had been made.
