According to BBC News, Leeds Rhinos will host Warrington Wolves on Friday in the first Super League play-off semi-final. Leeds, Warrington, Wigan Warriors and Wakefield Trinity are the four remaining teams, with the winners chasing a place in the Grand Final on 3 October.

Leeds finished second and received a bye week, while Warrington reached Headingley after beating reigning champions Hull KR 35-12 in their eliminator. Matty Ashton scored a hat-trick in that victory. Leeds and Warrington both ended the regular season on 40 points, with Warrington taking third place on points difference.

Rhinos coach Brad Arthur said his team must be “the best version of us” after recent home defeats by Wigan and Hull FC. Leeds ended the regular campaign with three losses in five matches, but Arthur said the past two games had highlighted areas to improve around execution. Leeds last reached a Grand Final in 2022.

Warrington have won nine of their final 11 regular-season matches. Coach Sam Burgess said his staff should “stay out of the way” and allow the players to work, adding that the Wolves must limit Leeds’ space, be clinical and play their own game. Warrington have already lost twice to Leeds this season.

Leeds will be without captain Ash Handley, Lachie Miller and Jack Bird. Miller has been sidelined since sustaining a hamstring injury against Wigan, while Handley has a back injury and Bird also has a hamstring problem. Twenty-year-old Fergie McCormack is set for his fourth career start.
