According to ABC News, the Brisbane Broncos held a 20-4 half-time lead over the Gold Coast Titans in their NRLW preliminary final at Robina Stadium on Sunday.

Tamika Upton opened the scoring for Brisbane after the Broncos’ early territory and kicking game created pressure. Romy Teitzel then crossed after Gold Coast conceded back-to-back penalties, before Destiny Mino-Sinapati responded for the Titans on the left edge.

Brisbane extended its advantage late in the first half. Lauren Dam broke through tackles to score, and Julia Robinson crossed on the wing after a sequence involving Jada Ferguson, Teitzel and Deleni Paitai. Jesse Southwell missed a wide conversion following Robinson’s try.

The Titans lost lock Sienna Lofipo after she was injured while attempting to tackle Shannon Mato. ABC News reported Lofipo failed a head injury assessment and was ruled out. The winner of the match will face the Sydney Roosters in the NRLW grand final.

Later on Sunday, the Penrith Panthers were scheduled to host the Newcastle Knights in the men’s preliminary final. Newcastle supporters travelling to Sydney faced disrupted rail services, with Transport NSW reporting reduced speeds between Fassifern and Wyong because of a freight train issue at Warnervale.
